Daniel J. Bailey

May 20, 1991 - November 1, 2020

Daniel Joseph Bailey, 29, of Ankeny, IA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 1st, 2020. An open house Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 7th, 2020 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Ankeny Free Church. Dan’s family respectfully requests that attendees wear masks and practice social distancing. Dan was born on May 20th, 1991 in Des Moines, IA to parents Danny Bailey and Ann Bailey-Breeding. Dan attended Ankeny schools and then continued his education in Bondurant schools when the family relocated. He finished out his education at Clarinda Academy by obtaining his GED. Dan had the biggest heart and always put others first. He did not judge and when he loved, he loved BIG. He was all in. Life was not easy and Dan had many struggles with addiction. He knew that he was loved unconditionally. Through the struggles he always knew it would only take one phone call and help was there. Life turned around when Dan entered Bridges of Iowa. He was clean, he had a FT job and his own apartment, and his family was so proud of the new road he was traveling. He loved to travel, he hopped trains and saw the country from a view that many will never know or understand. The stories he shared were something one would think were out of a movie. He had an adventurous free spirit and he had such a fun personality and sense of humor. Some called him Big Mac or Rhino and some called him Dan and his siblings will forever remember him as Bubba. Number one is Dan’s life was his beautiful and amazing daughter. She is the best thing that ever happened to him. He loved her more than life itself. They really loved playing carpetball in the back yard and swimming in the pool together. Amery absolutely loved spending time with her Daddy and his memory will forever be lived out through her. Left to cherish his memory and carry on his caring nature are his daughter Amery Rose Bailey; parents, Ann (Ray) Breeding and Danny (Kelsey) Bailey; siblings, Shyann Bailey, Dylan Bailey, Steven Allison, Kaleigh Breeding, Ashley Pollard, Jerrod Breeding, Alexa Breeding and Kiley Bailey; grandparents, Rhonda Bailey, Don (Jody) Haynes, and Ray Breeding (MaryAnn) Zagonli. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alijah Allison; Grandfather, Jack Bailey; Grandmother, Diane Kissinger; Great Grandmother, Rosemarie Lukehart.
